Introduction to the V8 Engine
A V8 engine is a piston engine with eight cylinders, where two sets of four cylinders share a common crankshaft and are arranged in a V-shape. The first known V8 engine, the Antoinette, was designed by Léon Levavasseur and built in 1904 by the French Antoinette company. Initially, it was developed for speedboat racing but later found applications in cars and airplanes.
The first car to use a V8 engine appeared in 1905, manufactured by Rolls-Royce in the UK. This car was equipped with a 3.5L V8 engine, but only three units were made before Rolls-Royce switched back to using straight-six engines. Due to the larger size of V8 engines, they are typically installed in vehicles with a longitudinal engine layout and rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). However, a few front-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicles have also been fitted with V8 engines, often using closer cylinder spacing and adjusted cylinder angles to save space.

Kit Overview
Packaging and Presentation
This V8 engine model kit, similar to the radial engine kit I previously reviewed, comes in a beautiful metal box adorned with artistic designs on the lid and sides. Upon opening the lid, the first thing you see is the instruction manual, sitting on top of three trays of neatly arranged parts. Each part rests in custom-cut slots with engraved part numbers. You'll find many familiar components such as valves, intake manifolds, crankshaft, camshafts, piston heads, and chains. All parts are meticulously machined and anodized in various colors, giving them a durable finish. I encountered no scratches during the assembly process.
It’s important to note that, despite the manual mentioning lubrication, no lubricant is included in the kit. You’ll need to purchase your own. I used bike chain oil, which worked well.

It took me about 5 hours to complete the entire build, during which I also took some photos. Once the assembly was complete, the engine ran perfectly with no issues. If you encounter any difficulties during assembly or operation, the manual includes a detailed troubleshooting section to help you resolve any potential problems.
